Our rug cleaning process begins with a thorough assessment to determine the type of rug (hand-knotted or machine-made), fiber type (natural like wool, cotton, silk, jute viscose etc. or man-made like nylon, polypropylene, etc.), known stains or problem areas. We also test for dye stability to assess the risk of color run. Based on all this information, we decide on the most appropriate rug cleaning method.
Often overlooked, dusting is a vital step in the rug cleaning process. Natural rug fibers are great at hiding dirt, grit and dust particles. We remove them before starting the wet cleaning process by placing the rugs face down onto dusting grids and gently beating the back with a dedicated mechanical machine. This thorough dusting procedure removes all foreign particles from deep down the rug pile.

The 9 Steps in the Rug Cleaning Process
The professional rug cleaning process typically involves nine meticulous steps to thoroughly clean and rejuvenate rugs. First, the rug is carefully inspected to identify any areas of concern, such as heavy soiling, pet stains, or damage that may require special attention. Next, the rug is gently but thoroughly vacuumed on both sides to remove loose dirt, dust, and debris. The third step is a pre-treatment process, where any spots, stains, or heavily soiled areas are treated with the appropriate cleaning solutions. Then, the rug is shampooed using our rug cleaning solution and the rotary machine to loosen ground-in dirt and revitalize the fibers. After shampooing, the rug is rinsed with clean water to remove all residues of dirt and cleaning solution, leaving the fibers clean and fresh. The rug is then meticulously groomed to realign the fibers and restore its texture and luster. As the seventh step, the rug undergoes a drying process, either by hanging or laying flat, to ensure it is completely moisture-free. Once dry, the rug is again thoroughly vacuumed and brushed to remove any remaining loose particles and to restore its pile. Finally, the rug is carefully inspected once more to ensure it meets the DFWRCC’s highest standards of cleanliness and quality before being returned to its owner, refreshed and revitalized.
